How Much Does It Cost to Have My Own Web Page?In Feburary 2016 28,

In Feburary 2016 28,
To have your own domain name (.com, .net, .org, .nu) you must register the domain. This typically costs anywhere between $10 to $12 (USD) and is billed on a yearly basis. GoDaddy and E-Starr are two companies that register your domain for less than $12 a year.
Domain Hosting
You need space to build your website. Hosting is usually charged on a per-month basis, and you will receive a set amount of space and bandwidth. E-Starr offers a basic personal hosting package with 200 MB of space for $5.00 per month. GoDaddy also offers a 150 MB plan for $7.99 per month. If you need hosting for business needs, there are larger packages available.
Special Considerations
If you are not familiar with HTML or graphic design, you may want to hire someone to create your website. A Web designer will code and upload your website. Prices vary based on the size of the job. Look locally for a Web designer. You may want to go to a local college and advertise you are looking for someone to create a website for you. Many students will work for cheap to build their portfolios.

How to Set Up an Affiliate WebsiteIn Feburary 2016 23,

In Feburary 2016 23,
Your affiliate website will do better in Internet searches if you pick a niche for it. The category can be anything that interests you. You don't have to pick a niche that's popular or has a huge audience to be successful. A small niche with a dedicated audience and less competition can garner revenue.
Choose a Website Host That Works Well With Affiliate Programs
You might be tempted to go with a free blog option for your affiliate website, but this choice likely won't net you the same results as purchasing your own domain and self-hosting a website. Some free blog hosting sites like Wordpress.com don't allow affiliate websites. If you set up an affiliate site there or try to run ads on your site, you might find your website is removed just as you're starting to earn commissions. Some free hosting sites strip the affiliate links from your posts, rendering commissions impossible.
Sign Up With an Affiliate Program
After you choose your website's topic, pick an affiliate program that offers products within your niche. For example, Amazon has an affiliate program called Amazon Associates that offers 4 to 10 percent commission on anything sold from its website. Other similar affiliate program options include ClickBank and Commission Junction.
Utilize Modern SEO Techniques
The heyday of SEO link building, in which your website gained an audience and ranked higher on Internet searches by having lots of websites link to the site, is over. With Google's new ranking algorithm, affiliate sites have a tougher time gaining traction. Focus on writing long, creative posts on your website or blog about the items that your site promotes. Host lots of original content and mix in articles that are around 1,000 words long. If you use a service like Wordpress.org to manage an affiliate blog, instead of a free hosting service like Wordpress.com, use SEO-focused plugins to automate the keyword selection process.

Meaning of a Domain Name ExtensionIn Feburary 2016 21,

In Feburary 2016 21,
There are two basic types of domain name extensions: country code top-level domains, and generic top-level domains. Further, generic top-level domains can be either sponsored or unsponsored.
Country Codes
If the domain name extension of a website is only two characters long, then it's a country code top-level domain, or 'ccTLD.' Examples include '.us' for the United States, '.br' for Brazil and '.de' for Germany (Deutschland). Country codes are managed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, and as of 2010, there were nearly 250 ccTLDs, one for every country in the world plus special-status territories such as Hong Kong (.hk), the Falkland Islands (.fk) or Puerto Rico (.pr). Each country designates a government agency or a private company to handle registrations under its ccTLD, and each can set its own rules for who or what can register. Some allow only their own citizens or businesses to register, others allow anyone to register--and some actively market their ccTLDs as a source of revenue. Two examples of the latter are the Pacific Ocean island nations of Tuvalu (.tv) and the Federated States of Micronesia (.fm).
Unsponsored
The most common domain name extensions are the unsponsored generic TLDs. They're called 'unsponsored' because no agency approves registrations; anyone anywhere in the world can register domains with these extensions. Unsponsored TLDs include '.com,' '.org' and '.net.' Generally, '.com' sites are commercial, '.org' websites belong to non-profits and trade associations, and '.net' addresses are used by Internet-related companies, but these categories are not enforced at all. If you go to register a domain with a '.org' extension, no one is going to check whether your organization qualifies. Other unsponsored generic TLDs include '.info,' '.biz' and '.name.'
Sponsored
Sponsored generic top-level domains are those that have a gatekeeper--an agency or organization that decides who can and can't register. The most familiar sponsored extensions are '.gov,' which is managed by the U.S. federal government; '.edu,' which is open only to post-secondary educational institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; and '.mil,' reserved for the U.S. military. Other sponsored TLDs include '.aero' for the air-transport industry; '.asia' for Asia-Pacific entities; '.cat' for Catalan language and cultural sites; '.coop' for cooperatives; '.int' for international organizations; '.jobs' for human resources managers; '.mobi' for the mobile communications industry; '.museum' for museums; and '.travel' for the travel and tourism industry.
Direction
Lists of all websites registered under each TLD are stored on 'root servers' maintained in 13 clusters around the world for redundancy. When you punch a Web address into your browser, the first place it looks is the root server list for the TLD in the address; that list points it to the proper 'name server' for the website.

How to Make an Online Radio Station for FreeIn Feburary 2016 16,

In Feburary 2016 16,
Use the software ubroadcast to broadcast online. Ubroadcast allows you to set up an online radio station for free and broadcast live. However, other users must download the ubroadcast client before they can listen to your station.
Set up a Shoutcast broadcasting server. Shoucast is a free program that also allows for online radio broadcasting. Shoutcast allows you to either broadcast directly from your own computer, or from a third-party Shoutcast host that hosts your program on its servers. It does not require special software for listeners to use.
Create a podcast using sound software such as Audacity and use a podcast hosting service such as MyPodCast to host the podcast. While not a live Internet broadcast, Podcasts have an advantage in that they can be downloaded to the PC and played back anytime, unlike a radio broadcast, which can only be heard once unless you record it.

How to Host an Afternoon Tea Baby ShowerIn Feburary 2016 13,

In Feburary 2016 13,
Design a formal invitation using a formal font such as Edwardian Script or Lucinda Calligraphy. Place a delicate line art of a woman sipping from a teacup or a sweet baby with, 'You're Invited' on the front. Inside the invitation, provide the details of the tea party baby shower, including the date, time, location and attire. If the party is a surprise, add that information so no one spills the beans to the guest of honor.
Decorating the Party Room
Lace tablecloths, doilies on the end tables and embroidered pillows on the sofa fill the room with a Victorian sensibility suitable for a tea party. Use fresh flowers in cut-glass vases or vintage pitchers as centerpieces. Set the tables with dessert plates, saucers and teacups. The place settings don't have to match; you can collect a variety of pink or blue floral china, or for a modern mom, use clear glass plates and cups. Provide a comfortable chair for the guest of honor, with plenty of cushions and a footstool.
Traditional Tea Party Menu
A vintage bowl filled with a variety of English and herbal teas allows your guests to select their favorite flavors before you fill their cups with steaming water. Sparkling fruit juices and pitchers of fresh-squeezed lemonade on the tables provide cool refreshment. Several tiered cake stands or trays hold finger sandwiches, scones, sliced tea breads, cookies and other treats that appeal to the mother-to-be. Instead of a sheet cake, individual servings of strawberry shortcake or cupcakes decorated with pink or blue frosting complete the tea party.
Baby Shower Games
Play the guest of honor's favorite baby shower games during and after the tea party. A variety of games, such as 'guess the baby food,' 'baby basket price is right' or baby name scrambles keeps everyone laughing as the guests vie for their game prizes. Slip game cards under each place setting for a brisk game of baby game bingo while the shower gifts are opened. Take plenty of selfies with the mom-to-be and slip in a few photo-bombs for the scrapbook that you'll deliver as an after-shower gift. Send the guests home with small gift bags filled with cookies, candies and other sweet treats.

How to Create a NoIn Feburary 2016 13,

In Feburary 2016 13,
Log into the control panel of your email hosting account to create a no-reply email address. By creating a no-reply email address, it will indicate to the email recipient that they are not to reply to the address. An example of a no-reply email address is noreply@yourdomainname.com.
Set up the no-reply email address in your email program. You will need the incoming and outgoing mail server settings, username and password. This information will be provided by the company that's hosting your email account. You can also use a web-based email program if your email host provides this option.
Open your email program and click on the option to 'Compose' a new message. Enter a subject for your message in the 'Subject' field.
Type the wording you would like to include in the body of the message. Be sure to indicate to the reader that they should not reply to the email address. Provide them with contact information if applicable, for example an alternate email address such as customerservice@yourdomainname.com.
Send your message to its recipients.

How to Find Your Port Number on GoDaddyIn Feburary 2016 12,

In Feburary 2016 12,
Access your email server port settings. The instructions for reaching the port settings vary on all email clients, but you can usually do so either when you first set up the email or by selecting the email account properties.
Look to see if you have enabled 'This sever requires a secure connection.' If you did not, type '143' into the incoming port if you're using an IMAP-enabled email. Type '110' if you're using a POP-enabled email. You can look to see whether you're using POP or IMAP in the main email settings. If you do have a secure connection enabled, set the IMAP settings to 993 and the POP settings to 995.
Set the 'Outgoing Mail' port to '80,' '25,' '3535' or '787' if you do not have a secure connection enabled. Depending on your location and connection, some ports may not work. If you do have a secure connection enabled, set the port to '465.' Click 'Apply' and 'OK.'

How to Create a Subscription Web SiteIn Feburary 2016 11,

In Feburary 2016 11,
Create a Web-hosting account. Find a Web host that allows installation of third-party software. Hosting of this variety can be found for about $4 per month as of August 2010 (see reference 2).
Install the content management system (CMS) to manage the website's content. The Web host likely offers two or three different packages as part of its hosting plan. Common open-source choices are Drupal, Joomla and Mambo (see reference 1). These packages are installed through a point-and-click interface from the hosting control panel. Installation and configuration takes less than five minutes to complete.
Customize the CMS installation. Set user permissions to allow registered and anonymous user access. Apply a design theme to set the look and feel of the website, and upload the custom graphics that will be used. All of these are accomplished from the CMS admin control panel. Each item has its own heading to configure that option. Click the heading, set the option and select 'save' when done to apply the new setting.
Create the website content. This includes the written and graphical content. The CMS includes a content editor as part of the program, so content can be created directly in the CMS. Another part of creating content in a CMS is assigning who is able to access that content. As pages are created, assign a permission level of 'registered' or 'anonymous.' Content set to 'registered' is available only to subscribers. The setting is a drop-down box located at the bottom of the content creation editor. Choose the access level, and then click 'save' to apply the permissions.
Set up a payment processing account. The payment processor will handle billing the customer through credit card or alternative means, then deposit that money into your account after subtracting the processing fees. Popular choices for small businesses are PayPal and Google, but other options also exist (see reference 3). Do your homework to find the best mix of processing fees and value-added services offered by the payment processor.
Test the website thoroughly before deployment. Nothing annoys paying customers like not being able to get what they paid for. Test every functional aspect of the website before going live. Once confirmed operational, the site is ready to be launched.

How to Add Ads to My Web PageIn Feburary 2016 09,

In Feburary 2016 09,
Make sure your web host will let you put ads on the page. Some free web hosting providers already have their own ads on the page or will not allow you to put Javascript on the page. If you can’t put ads on your existing web page, you will need to switch to another web hosting provider.
Join an advertising program. Write down your username and password; you will need them each time you sign in to the program website.
Log into the advertising program website and set up your account. Read the support pages to learn how to generate HTML code for ads and to select the types and sizes of ads you want to display on your web page.
Generate and copy the HTML code for an ad or ad group. You can copy the code by selecting the code and then choosing “Copy” from the 'Edit' menu of your web browser.
Open your web page in an HTML editor. Paste the copied HTML code into your web page at the place you want the ad to appear. You can control the position and appearance of the ads on your web page. Paste in the copied code by selecting “Paste” from the 'Edit' menu of your HTML editor. Save the file when you finish making changes.
Upload the web page to your web hosting account. View the page online to make sure the ads appear correctly. If they don’t, revise the HTML code, save the file and upload it again.

How to Install Wordpress On 1and1 ServersIn Feburary 2016 08,

In Feburary 2016 08,
Log in to your 1and1 control panel and click the hosting package on which you want to install WordPress.
Click “MySQL” under the Database heading on the hosting panel and then select “MySQL Database.”
Enter a description for your new database in the field provided. Something as simple as “WordPress Database” is fine, provided you only plan to have one iteration of WordPress installed on your 1and1 account.
Create a password for the database in the “Password” field and then verify it in the “Repeat Password” field. Make a note of this password as you will need it when installing WordPress.
Click “Set Up” to finish creating your database. When creation is complete, 1and1 displays the details of your database, including the database name and username. Make a note of both of these values as you will need them when installing WordPress.
Installing Wordpress
Download the latest version of WordPress onto your computer and extract its contents to your desktop or another memorable location.
Upload the contents of the extracted WordPress folder to the location on your 1and1 server where you want WordPress to appear. If you don’t have FTP software, a number of free options are available, including FileZilla, SmartFTP and CoreFTP.
Update your 1and1 destination folder so that it points to WordPress. Log in to the 1and1 control panel, select the hosting package associated with WordPress and then select “Domain Center” on the Domains control panel. Place a check mark in the box next to the domain you want to use with WordPress and then click the “Edit Destination” button. Select the “Webspace” radio button, click the arrow icon located under the Target Directory field and select the folder into which you uploaded WordPress. Click “Save” when you are finished.
Wait at least 15 minutes for 1and1’s servers to adopt your domain changes.
Open a new browser tab or window and visit the domain associated with WordPress. This is the domain you just pointed to your WordPress destination folder.
Click “Create a Configuration File” and then click “Let’s Go” to initiate the configuration process.
Enter your WordPress database name, username and password in the provided fields. These are the values you noted earlier when creating your database.
Click “Submit” and then press the “Run the Install” button.
Fill out the Five-Minute-Install form and press the “Install WordPress” button to finish installing WordPress. For security purposes, the username and password you create here should be different from those associated with your database. These will be the username and password you use whenever you log in to WordPress.

How to Start an Online Thrift StoreIn Feburary 2016 01,

In Feburary 2016 01,
Apply for a business license and open a business bank account. Even though this is a small business, you will still want to separate your business and personal income to make tax filing easier. It also presents you more professionally and allows you to separate your business and personal life.
Set up an online storefront. Most thrift store owners prefer to have an eBay store, since payment processing and shipping are so convenient, and they do not have to compete with eBay. You can also set up an Amazon store or your own website. Many web hosting services, such as Yahoo or GoDaddy, provide you with a professional, quality online store for a monthly fee.
Determine what types of goods to sell, and convey that to your customers. It is easier to get loyal customers if they can categorize you in their minds. Get your customers to always think of you when they look for a particular type of product they would like to buy. Specialize in Depression-era glassware, used books, children's clothes, boots and accessories, textiles, or everything under $5. This is the essence of branding.
Purchase your inventory. Search for goods that have a high likelihood of selling and that you can mark up double or triple the price. Also, consider how to build the costs of shipping and handling into your prices. It's possible that many of your goods will not sell, or that you will have to mark them down to advertise a 'sale' item, so start with a slightly higher price than you might find at Goodwill. Ensure that the goods are clean and defect-free, and be very specific about the condition of the item in your description.
Follow up with your customers. Your online reputation is even more important than your offline reputation, since customers cannot see you or the goods before they buy them. Always focus on customer service, and ensure that your customers are satisfied. If they are, ask them for testimonials or quotes that you can use in your marketing materials.

Go to the Business Class Comcast.net Web page. Click the 'Set Up a Portal Account' button to bring up the 'Create Your Business Class Account' registration form.
Fill in the 'Create Your Business Class Account' registration form. You are asked to provide your first and last name; your business organization's name; select an email address; create an eight to 16 character long password; select a security question and provide an answer; and to enter your Comcast account ID (which may be found on your billing statement).
Put a check mark in the box next to the 'I would like to add a vanity domain' optional service. Click 'Activate.' By placing a check mark in the vanity domain name option you are given the opportunity to register a new domain name through Comcast or use an existing domain name, which you already have registered, with your Comcast Business Class Web hosting and email service.
